A Sneak Peek at the Future Event Space at the Richards Building!

On the 3rd floor of the Richards Building at the corner of Blackwell St & N Sussex St resides a future event space, and planning is underway! In the last few weeks, drywall has been taken down to uncover the robust brick walls. This amazing location will be the future home of many events for the Dover community and beyond.

The extraordinary ceiling of the Richards event space. The HVAC will be repositioned to further reveal its historic charm.

The ceiling will be further exposed by having the HVAC moved to the interior wall. This will help to open the ceiling up further revealing all of the wood beams and will be complimented with a variety of lighting fixtures.

An important step in the construction of the event space will be to remove the fire exit door from the N Sussex St wall, and replace it with a new window.

Next will be the removal of the exterior fire escape overlooking the Corner Smoke Shop. We are able to remove this fire escape because of our newly constructed interior staircase.

The new interior staircase gives an emergency exit from all floors safely out on to Blackwell St.

Future updates to the event space will include rerouted HVAC ductwork, new flooring, lighting and installing a small kitchen off the room for catered events. We look forward to hosting your future special occasions at The Richards Building.
